How Hypnotherapy Can Solve Fertility Problems and Failed IVF

t can be heart-breaking to know that one in seven couples in the UK are affected by fertility problems and failure to conceive a child. Most GP’s won’t start fertility investigations or refer patients to a specialist until at least 12 months of trying. The investigative procedures are time-consuming, uncomfortable and stressful for both partners. For 15-20% of those tested, the results show there is no apparent physiological cause, leaving people feeling angry and frustrated, with limited options available to them.

There follows a monthly cycle of expectation and disappointment, and the pleasure of making love is gradually replaced by an increasingly tense atmosphere, with the female partner feverishly checking dates, times, temperature, doing ovulation and pregnancy tests, and the male partner coming under increasing pressure to ‘perform’ whenever required to do so. This is clearly not the best state for either partner to be in for a successful outcome!

Hypnotherapy can Clear the Blocks to Successful Conception

For those who are unsuccessful in conceiving, either naturally or through IVF, Hypnotherapy can prove very effective by working with the psychogenic (‘Originating in the mind or in mental or emotional processes’) root of the problem. It is safe, comfortable, relaxing and there are no known side-effects!

Physiological Causes of Failure to Conceive

  • Antiphospholipid Antibodies
  • Premature Ovarian Failure
  • Tubular blockage or Endometriosis
  • Age and Egg Quality
  • Fibroids
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Anovulation
  • Amenorrhea
  • STDs
  • Obesity
  • Smoking

NHS or Private Funding for IVF?

Most NHS operated fertility clinics now offer free IVF treatment to people who have been sponsored by their Primary Care Trust. The availability of IVF treatment on the NHS is subject to guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) which recommend that you should be offered up to three cycles of IVF if all criteria are met. Some PCTs will refuse funding to couples where one partner already has a child.

Waiting lists for NHS funded IVF treatment vary depending on your particular PCT, but can vary from 6 months to 3 years. The alternative is to opt for private IVF treatment which costs on average £3,500, but the cost of extra drugs and diagnostic tests can push this up to over £8,000. An increasing number of people leave the country in search of faster, cheaper treatment overseas.

Failed IVF

More than 7,000 women undergo IVF every year in the UK and less than one in four, are successful. That means that only around 9,000 women conceive after IVF treatment. The number of treatments continues to rise every year, and despite constant improvements in the process, the end result is an increasing number of women who are unsuccessful.

  • When is the Best Time to have Hypnotherapy?
  • Once tests show there is no known physical cause, then a course of Hypnotherapy, ranging from 4-6 sessions, can begin.
  • If there are indications that IVF is required for conception (for example: egg donation), then Hypnotherapy can be undertaken several weeks prior to treatment to increase the chances of a successful outcome.
  • If IVF treatment has failed, then a course of Hypnotherapy can remove the emotional blocks that may have got in the way, prior to beginning a new course of treatment.
  • Hypnotherapy can also be helpful during the long and sometimes arduous IVF treatment, to maintain confidence and a positive attitude.
  • And finally, Hypnotherapy during the pregnancy can help to achieve a more comfortable, calm, relaxed and natural birth experience for both Mother and Baby, with the Father fully-participating in the experience.

How can Hypnotherapy help Successful Conception?

By finding and clearing the emotional blocks; eliminating stress; neutralising feelings of anger and frustration, the client, whether they be the male or female partner (or both), feels more confident, hopeful and receptive.

Women are often surprised to discover a deeply-held belief that they don’t deserve to be a mother, and this in itself can create an insurmountable emotional block. Once removed, a surge of powerful, positive energy is released that can often result in achieving the desired outcome – the conception of the long-awaited and much-wanted child.

The Difference in Cost

The cost of a course of Hypnotherapy may seem substantial, but when compared with the potentially huge costs of IVF, it becomes no more than a small but significant drop in the ocean. You’ll be looking at hundreds not thousands of Pounds to help you achieve a positive outcome – the conception and birth of a child, who, by the way, will cost you an estimated £43,000 to bring up!
