Rajmachi is a small village located in the Sahyadri mountain range in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is about 10 km from Lonavala and 15 km from Karjat. Rajmachi consists of two fortresses, namely Shrivardhan Fort and Manoranjan Fort, which were built by Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th century. The base village of Rajmachi is Udhewadi.

Rajmachi is a popular trekking destination. The Rajmachi trek can be undertaken from two different routes, namely the Tungarli route and the Kondivade route. The Tungarli route is the easier of the two and is suitable for beginners. It takes about 3-4 hours to reach Rajmachi from the base village of Udhewadi. The Kondivade route is a bit more challenging and takes about 5-6 hours to reach Rajmachi.

Pune is the nearest airport for the trek. You will easily get a direct flight from Mumbai to Pune.

Day 1: Drive from Mumbai to Rajmachi

Start your drive from Mumbai in the morning and head towards Rajmachi. The drive will take around 3 hours. Once you reach Rajmachi, check into your hotel and relax for the day. 

Day 2: Rajmachi Trek

Start your trek from Rajmachi village and reach the top of the fort. Explore the fort and the surrounding area. You can also visit the temples and the lakes on the fort.

Day 3: Drive back to Mumbai

Start your drive back to Mumbai in the morning. You can stop en route to visit some of the nearby tourist attractions. Reach Mumbai by evening.

Best Routes for the trek

The trek begins from Tungarli village, which is around 3 km from Lonavala. The initial part of the trek is through dense forests and the trail is quite rocky. After a few hours of trekking, you will reach Rajmachi Fort. The upper fort is the main fort, which has the ruins of the old palace and temples. The lower fort is smaller in size and has a few old houses.
