Citizens from Lithuania are eligible to enter Canada with a Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). The Canadian government introduced this online permit in 2015 to facilitate international tourism and visits. It grants entry to foreign citizens from selected countries to CANADA VISA FOR LITHUANIAN CITIZENS for short-term stays for tourism, business, or transit.
It is a multiple-entry permit that grants a stay of 180 days maximum each time. The eTA for Canada is electronically linked to the Lithuanians’ passport and is valid for 5 years with the exception of passports set to expire before this time. In this case, the Canadian eTA will expire at the same time as the passport.
ARE LITHUANIAN PASSPORT HOLDERS EXEMPT FROM NEEDING A VISA FOR CANADA?
Lithuania is one of the countries that are visa-exempt for Canada. This visa-waiver program allows traveling to Canada without needing to schedule an appointment at the Canadian embassy in Vilnius and applying for a standard visa. Lithuanians are authorized to enter Canada simply with an approved eTA.
REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN THE CANADIAN ETA FOR LITHUANIAN CITIZENS
Before initiating their application, Lithuanian travelers must cross-check they meet the basic requirements for the eTA to visit Canada. These are detailed further below:
- Possessing a biometric passport issued in Lithuania
- Frequently used email address
- Debit or credit card
A biometric (also referred to as an electronic) passport is a secure and time-saving travel document that facilitates entry into most international destinations with quicker queues that include a unique identifying chip.
Lithuanians with an electronic passport must simply ensure they will be valid for up to 6 months on the date they arrive in Canada.
Secondly, they must submit an email id they frequently use since the confirmation of the Canadian eTA, and all other communications will only be done by email.
Lastly, they should confirm the credit or debit card they intend to use has been previously authorized for online payments and carries sufficient funds.

If Lithuanian visitors have already purchased their travel tickets, they will also be required to share the arrival date and ticket details. They should ensure that the information they submit is accurate and matches their passport details. Any typo or slight error could lead to delays in the evaluation process or even a denial. Once Lithuanian applicants have confirmed their answers are correct, they finalize the payment of the eTA process.
Visiting Canada from Lithuania with children
Underage citizens traveling to Canada need to comply with the same entry requirements as the rest of the applicants. Their parents or guardians need to request a separate eTA for each minor. Naturally, they can use the same email address for registration and card to action payment of the eTA processing fees.
Urgent eTA’s for Canada for Lithuanian citizens
Lithuanian travelers can request an urgent eTA for Canada, which is usually granted in 60 minutes. This exceptional entry permit is available for the following situations:
- Last-minute business meetings
- Unexpected or recent changes to a travel booking
- Family emergencies
- Spontaneous tickets purchase taking advantage of an airline promotion
Lithuanian nationals can request the Urgent eTA at the airport before boarding. This option though available is strongly discouraged since it involves waiting 60 minutes for the approval to be received before being authorized to board their flight.
CANADIAN ETA EVALUATION PROCESS FOR LITHUANIAN APPLICANTS
As soon as Lithuanian nationals have submitted their eTA application, the Canadian Government analyzes the forms received. The evaluation process usually lasts 24 hours, and If they have been correctly filled in, Lithuanian applicants receive the approved eTAs. TRAVELING FROM LITHUANIA TO CANADA WITH THE ETA
Once Lithuanian passport holders receive their electronic travel authorization, they are eligible to depart for Canada. The eTA is electronically linked to the Lithuanians’ passports and therefore does not need to be printed out before their arrival. Upon reaching, they simply have to submit their passports, which will be scanned electronically at border controls.
Extension of the Canadian eTA for Lithuanian visitors
If Lithuanian nationals want to prolong their stay in Canada, they can request a Canadian eTA extension. They are required to submit their application at least 30 days in advance of the expiration date. Within 24 hours, they will receive their renewed eTA.
