What is the eligibility to become Income Tax Officer?
To become an income tax officer, you need to pass the appropriate examination. You must have a bachelor’s degree in any field from any university or college. You must be between 18-27 years old. The upper age limit is three years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC / ST candidates.
What is the selection process for the Income Tax Officer?
Under the examinations conducted by SSC CGL i.e. Staff Selection Commission, you have to go through various stages of SSC such as the initial examination, main examination, interview, group discussion etc.
You must pass the initial examination to be admitted to the main examination. The main examination consists of two parts. The first examination will be written in hand and the second part will be your interview or also it can be called a personality test. The initial examination contains 100 questions of general awareness and arithmetic for which you are given 2 hours.
The main examination consists of 100 question hours of general study and 3 hours of study. 50 English questions with the time-frame of 2 hours and 20 minutes. For 100 questions and check of communication skills and writing the exam length is also 2 hours and 20 minutes. A personality test means that you have an oral interview in person.
Physical Standards & Test
Male candidates should have a minimum height of 157.5 cm, a chest of 81 centimetres & 5 cm expansion, while female candidates should be at least 152 cm and a weight of 48 Kilograms.
The male candidate should run 1600 meters in at least 15 minutes and the female candidate should run 1 km in 20 minutes.
Apart from this, a male candidate has to cycle a distance of 8 km in 30 minutes and a female candidate 3 km in 25 minutes.
Salary of the Income Tax Officer
Since an Income Tax Officers are an employee of the Center or the State Government, his salary is also fixed, based on the Central or State Level Pay Commission, which is 55,000 monthly and some other allowances.
