How to Get Rid of that Pesky Coffee Smell in Your Car

If you’re like most people, your car doesn’t get cleaned nearly as often as it should. Every week, you probably find yourself sweeping up the usual suspects–crumbs and small pieces of trash–but you might feel that’s about as far as your cleaning duties go. Don’t neglect your car interior–it builds up grime and absorbs odors over time that can be hard to get rid of once they’ve settled in! Follow this guide on how to thoroughly clean the interior of your car so you can get that coffee smell out once and for all!

Inspect your car for any coffee spills

Look for any coffee spills or other stains on the car’s upholstery. Use a damp cloth to remove any coffee spills, and then blot with a clean, dry cloth. If there are any stains on the car’s upholstery, mix a few tablespoons of baking soda and water together in a bowl. Apply this mixture onto the stain using a small paintbrush or clean cloth until it is removed from the fabric.

Vacuum all surfaces

Rengøring af bil: Start with the floor mats, which can harbor dirt and crumbs. If they are removable, vacuum the under side with a hose attachment. Next, vacuum the upholstery and headrests. Replace floor mats if necessary. Vacuum around seat belts, air bag sensors and center consoles. Wipe down leather surfaces with a damp cloth or hand sanitizer for leather surfaces. For vinyl or cloth surfaces, use an all-purpose cleaner (wiping down rather than scrubbing). Spray window sills with glass cleaner and wipe down other hard surfaces like door panels, arm rests and roof racks (if applicable).

Shampoo all upholstery and carpets

The first step is to shampoo all upholstery and carpets. This will help eliminate the smell and any stains or dirt that may be lingering. Once the seats are dry, use a steamgrønt cleaner and fill the reservoir with water. Set your steamer on low, then start shampooing all surfaces inside your car. Be sure not to overwet anything while using the steamgrønt cleaner as it can leave spots on clothes, carpeting and upholstery.

Wipe down all hard surfaces

It’s important to get all hard surfaces clean first so you can be sure you’ve gotten rid of the coffee smell. This includes the steering wheel, dashboard and upholstery. Use a microfiber cloth with steamgrønt or Rengøring af bil and wipe down these surfaces. You don’t want to risk getting dirt onto other parts of the car’s interior. Spray some more Rengøring af bil onto your cloth and go back over those difficult-to-reach places: under the seat, around buttons and knobs, etc.

Fold up your microfiber cloth when you’re done: Don’t throw away that expensive rag; fold it neatly so you can use it again without having to rewash it!

Deodorize your car

Coffee spills are one thing, but the smell lingers long after the spill is gone. A dirty car interior makes any ride feel unpleasant. Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can take to make your car smell as fresh and clean as it did when you first bought it.

  • Start by vacuuming up all the dirt and debris from your floor mats and seats. This includes crumbs or pieces of paper or anything else that may be collected on the bottom of your seats. 2. Rinse down all plastics with warm water and soap, wiping them with a cloth until they’re completely dry and smelling fresh again.
