BLUE LIGHT FILTER
Research has shown that wearing VR headsets can cause eye strain, eye discomfort, eye fatigue and blurred vision. The American Academy of Ophthalmology states that staring at a VR screen for too long can cause eye strain or fatigue. The blue light filter reduces the amount of blue light displayed on the device’s screen. Blue light can suppress the production of melatonin (sleep-inducing hormone), so filtering out blue light can help improve sleep. It also reduces eye strain with digital, so your eyes won’t feel as tired at the end of the day.
UPDATED October 27, 2021:
The tracking improvement is the result of hardware changes to the physical camera module of the new Reverb G2 units. These changes are not backward compatible and are only available with the purchase of the new, updated device.
The changes will be rolled out first in the U.S. and later in other countries.
The software changes are compatible with all Reverb G2 headsets, and customers can learn more about the updates:
If customers have an issue with their cable or an issue with an AMD-based system, they can request a replacement cable for headsets covered under warranty through their country’s HP customer support channel. Every new cable that is shipped is the Rev2 cable.
Last year, we launched the HP Reverb G2, a headset that offers cutting-edge visuals, long-lasting comfort, and plug-and-play support for Windows Mixed Reality and SteamVR.
Today, we’re excited to announce a trio of new upgrades that make our award-winning original headset even better. When you purchase a new Reverb G2 headset, you’ll receive upgrades for improved vertical controller tracking1, increased AMD compatibility2, and enhanced eye relief customization2.
We know that good isn’t good enough when it comes to controller tracking. That’s why we’ve been refining our tracking capabilities over the past year to ensure users have the same great experience regardless of their game. This upgrade significantly boosts the headset’s tracking capabilities – increasing vertical tracking volume by 30% compared to our original headset and fixing blind spots above and below the waist.
In addition to better tracking, we’ve also expanded our compatibility with more systems. Working with AMD, we developed a solution that fixes connectivity issues that some users have experienced. This new improved cable is not limited to new purchases, but can also be purchased online for original HP Reverb G2 customers.
Our latest update includes an all-new face mask design that allows users to adjust their eye relief to ensure they can better reach their visual “sweet spot”. This new face mask now includes a removable spacer that allows users to adjust their eye relief to 15mm (with the spacer in place and as attached to the original headset) or 9mm (without the spacer). This extended range allows users to experience the incredible visual capabilities of the Reverb G2.
HP Reverb G2 Key Updates:
Improved Controller Tracking: Improved tracking below the waist with 30% more vertical coverage1.
The improved vertical tracking will also be included in the HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition2.
Cable: Updated 6-meter cable for improved compatibility with AMD systems and fixes connectivity issues2.
Face Seal: New design allows the eye relief to be adjusted to 9mm or 15mm, allowing users to better set their visual sweet spot2.
In addition to the improvements to the Reverb G2, Microsoft has been working hard to improve the Windows Mixed Reality experience. Some of the new features and settings available with the release of Windows 113 include:
Infinite Expanse Environment Built for Performance:
The new virtual home environment for Windows Mixed Reality devices features a significant reduction in scope and size, reduced to a single stage in place of the more feature-rich Cliffrose.
Infinite Expanse was built with performance in mind to meet long-standing customer requests for a less resource-intensive virtual home environment, so customers can get the best possible performance out of their games and experiences.
