Pressure washers – comparison of hot and cold water machines

Hot water pressure washers go by many names, including hot and cold pressure washers, steam cleaners, and diesel-powered pressure washers.

A cold water pressure washer is a device that emits cold water at a certain water flow, depending on the power of the pump, under pressure to clean the surface that needs to be cleaned. Usually, the higher the flow rate of the pump, the better, bigger and more productive the pressure washers are, but when it comes to hot water pressure washers, different rules apply.

A hot pressure washer is probably a better machine than a cold water pressure washer because the cleaning result and cleaning time change dramatically when using hot water. Machines with similar specifications cannot be compared because there is such a big difference between cleaning with hot water and cold water.

A hot pressure washer has come a long way since it was first introduced,

Where a person would first have to manually heat the water, then it is passed through a machine that presses to do the cleaning.

A hot water pressure washer today works by pumping and pressurizing water through a pressure pump that is heated by a diesel heater before being released from the machine through a nozzle.

The heat does most of the cleaning alone against the frictional force or movement caused by the purely pressurized water spray. In the case of hot water machines, the heat and pressure provide the cleaning power. This gives hot water pressure washers a huge advantage over regular cold pressure washers because the heat of the water alone can cut through things like paint, plastic, rubber and other types of materials.

A fairly common question asked by customers looking

To purchase a pressure washer for a specific job is, “Does hot pressure water make as much of a difference as cold?” Only when a hot water pressure washer has been used can the difference in cleaning performance and application speed be truly appreciated. You can make a similar comparison with, for example, a cup of tea. Does a hot cup of tea taste better than a cold cup of tea? Well, of course it does. How many people do you know who drink iced tea and enjoy it more than hot tea?

While this is true for most cleaning applications,

It cannot be said to be true for all. However, in most cases, a hot water machine will provide much better cleaning results than a cold water machine, regardless of the task or water flow or operating pressure.

Would you consider washing your dinner plates in cold water? Why do you think this same principle wouldn’t apply to pressure washing in general? Businesses that offer or require deep cleaning services need pressure cleaning tools to get the job done. These sunshine coast pressure cleaners mechanical devices designed primarily to wash away dirt, grime, grease and other contaminants from the surfaces of machinery, vehicles and buildings. They use higher pressure and high flow rates to drive water and detergent onto surfaces. Pressure washers can spray cold or hot water, each suitable for a specific situation.

How pressure washers work

Pressure washers work when a motor, either motorized or electronic, pumps water from a tank or water source and directs high-pressure water through a nozzle. Water can be heated by heating, gas or electricity. Hot or cold H2O passes through a nozzle that creates high pressure at the tip of the spray gun or tube.

Cold water pressure washer

Cold water is usually sufficient to clean cars, yards, workplaces, machines and rooms. Stronger cold water cleaners can be used in construction, agriculture and industry where the highest pressure is required for cleaning. Depending on the size and frequency of cleaning required, cold water purifiers can be purchased as compact or heavy-duty units. This type of purifier does not heat itself, although it can withstand water introduced into its system up to 80 degrees Celsius.

If fats, oils and pigments are found in the dirt, only warm water mixed with a suitable detergent can give a quick and clean result. Hot water pressure devices deliver high pressure water with a temperature of up to 98 degrees Celsius. Detergents can penetrate dirt and soil and keep them emulsified until hot water washes them away. The advantage of this type of cleaner is that it uses less detergent than cold water cleaners. On the other hand, cold water pressure washers are best for removing water-soluble dirt.
