Similar to your Facebook analytics, Instagram analytics (or “Insights”, as the app names them) provides valuable information about your followers, their online activities, and the number of people who viewed your Instagram posts. These are the iOS versions:
The chart icon is located in the top left hand corner of Instagram business profiles. It gives you access to your Instagram analytics. There’s also a “Contact” button next to the “Following” button. Instagram Follower Analytics
Instagram offers marketers many additional features such as follower demographic analytics. You can now see the location of your followers, their gender and their age.
Location: You can see the locations of your followers by country or city. This information is invaluable for marketers who wish to understand their audience. It also helps you to determine which time zones to post in order to reach your most followers.
Gender and Age: You can now break down your Instagram followers by gender and age. Instagram analytics shows you how many followers you have and how many you have gained each week. In a circle graph, you can see a breakdown of male to female followers. You can also view the age breakdown by gender, or just by men and women.
Instagram Post Analytics
There is an additional analytics section called “Insights” that is similar to Facebook Insights. You can see data about impressions, reach and website clicks as well as follower activity. Impressions displays the total number times your posts have been viewed. Reach shows how many unique accounts have seen your posts. Website Clicks shows how many accounts have clicked on the link in the Instagram bio.
Follower Activity: Instagram analytics shows you when your followers use Instagram the most. You can view the “Follower activity” module by hours and days. It displays “the average time that your followers spend on Instagram on a given day”, or you can sort by week. You can schedule your Instagram posts at the best times by knowing when your audience is most active.
Top posts: You can sort Instagram posts based on the top posts in each Insights category. You can view top posts sorted according to Impressions over a seven-day or 30-day period. The overlay shows the total impressions. This data is useful because it lets you see how many people actually saw your post, rather than just the number who “liked” or liked it. This will help you determine your engagement rate.
It is possible to see the number of Instagram users who viewed your post, in relation to the total followers. It is also possible to see how your content performs over time. Makaia, for example, has 33,000 followers but her posts get liked by between 100 and 300 accounts in the first seven days. However, this number nearly doubles when analyzed over 30 consecutive days. This indicates that older Instagram posts still have value.
