Top Ways To Make Your Hair Smooth Naturally!

Anytime you see someone with smooth, silky, and shiny hair, all you want to do is ask them the question – What do you do?

While some people are born with this blessing, some try new techniques to soften their hair and make them smoother. Some people may also think that the only way to get smoother and shinier hair is to get a salon treatment but not always are these treatments for the betterment of your hair condition.

Some top ways that can help in making your hair smooth without spending much on products are –

  1. Wash Hair With Cold Water

Washing hair with cold water removes any frizz and makes the hair straight. Instead of drying your hair rigorously, pat dry or scrunch it. You can also use a straightening or anti-frizz conditioner before washing your hair. The rinsing of your hair with cold water will lock in the anti-frizz action of the conditioner and keep your hair smooth.

Also washing hair with hot water makes the hair cuticles open up which makes them shed more. Cold water seals the cuticles and encourages the hair strands to stay flat.

  1. Choose The Right Product

The use of hair products is very similar to skin care products. Just like your skin needs the best skin care products, similarly, hair needs hair care products. The skin care products must be suitable to your skin type, whether it is oily or dry. Just like this, your hair products also need to suit your hair needs.

Use a shampoo that cleanses your hair, conditions them, and makes them soft and smooth.

Another way to cleanse your hair is to use natural ingredients. You can make your shampoo by boiling dried Indian Gooseberry, shikakai, and reetha. Boil the solution until it gets soapy. Use this solution at least twice a week to get smoother and silkier hair.

  1. Combing

Don’t use the brush too much. Combing or brushing your hair too much creates friction which makes your hair frizzy. Limit the number of times you comb your hair and don’t ever comb them when they are wet. Wet hair gets damaged more than dry hair.

A good combing routine includes detangling them with a wide-toothed comb before washing them and then combing them once or twice a day to get rid of tangles.

This will also help in styling them easily.

  1. Hot Oil Massage

Take 2-3 tablespoons of oil and heat it until it is slightly warm. Massage the oil in your scalp starting from the roots and work to the length of your hair. Do this for about 15-20 minutes and cover your head with a towel.

The massage not only smoothens your hair but also helps in destressing. Some oils that are good for massage are – coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, lavender oil, etc.

You can even use a combination of these oils to improve the results.

After applying oil wash your head with a gentle shampoo and conditioner.

  1. Don’t Apply Too Much Heat

Straightening, curling, and blow drying are maybe the best styling techniques but regular use of these tools is extremely harmful to your hair. The heat from these tools makes your hair frizzy, dry, and coarse by stripping the natural oils.

However, if there are some days where this cannot be avoided then prefer using them with a heat-protecting spray or serum. It will reduce the damage to a limit by forming a shield around your hair.

  1. Chemical Free Products

Avoid using products that have sodium lauryl sulfate or ammonium laureth sulfate. These are industrial cleansers and are very harsh on hair. Most shampoos contain these ingredients. Some research has shown that these chemicals increase hair fall which leads to thinning of your hair.

Instead of shampoos that contain sulfates, use the ones that have natural and organic ingredients. These ingredients help in locking the moisture in your hair and thus help in smoothening it.

  1. Proper Conditioning

Conditioning your hair at least once a week can do wonders for your hair. So, you must perform the right conditioning treatment. This will smoothen your hair and make it silky.

  1. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera gel helps in repairing damaged skin cells on the scalp. It is also used as a conditioner that smoothens your hair. It has keratin which acts as a great protein for your hair and helps in the overall growth of your hair.

The gel hydrates the hair follicles.

To make this gel spray, all you need is water and 1 aloe vera leaf. Extract the gel from the leaf excluding the yellow portion. After blending the gel, add some water to make the liquid smooth. Transfer this mixture into a spray bottle and spray it on your hair after shaking well.

Use this spray on your hair after a wash about 3-4 times a week.

  1. Mayonnaise Mask

Mayonnaise is a rich source of L-cysteine, amino acid and a powerful antioxidant also found in eggs. Using this hair mask regularly will help in the healthy growth of your hair.

For this mask, two ingredients i.e 1 cup mayonnaise and 2 teaspoons mashed avocado is required.

Mix mayonnaise and avocado till the mixture is fluffy. Apply this mixture starting from your roots, working through the length. Pull your hair to the top and cover it with a shower cap. Keep your hair like this for an hour and wash it later with a gentle shampoo and conditioner.

  1. Coffee Cleanser

Coffee helps in cleansing, moisturizing, and smoothening your hair. Pour the brewed coffee into a bottle. After washing and conditioning your hair, while they are wet, spray the brewed coffee over your hair. Gently massage the scalp and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo.

Cleanse your hair every week for good results.
