Is your Zelle app not working?
Do you find it difficult to use Zelle in your bank application?
Are you having trouble using Zelle?
We have explained in this article why Zelle does not work on your device.
It is important to note that this post does not address banking apps such as Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America.
Zelle is the easiest way to send money to the US. Zelle allows you to transfer money to anyone without requiring their bank account details. You can send money using your phone number or email.
Zelle does not hold money, unlike Venmo or Cash App. The bank accounts are credited with funds that have been transferred.
One of the best things about using Zelle is the fact that you don’t need to install the Zelle App individually. Most of the banks’ apps house all Zelle features within their apps.
Why Zelle isn’t working?
Zelle may not be working due to a variety of reasons, including a slow internet connection, a VPN, an old version of the app, a downed server of Zelle, redirected servers from your bank, or a blocked Zelle account.
Let’s examine each reason in more detail.
1. Internet Connection Not Working
Zelle may not work because your internet connection is slow or unstable.
Ookla provides a speed test that will determine your internet speed.
Before you do anything, ensure that your internet is functioning properly. Switching your internet connection from Wi-Fi to your mobile data can be done.
2. Zelle Servers are Down
If you are unable to send or transfer money using Zelle from your bank app, the Zelle servers might not be working.
The Downdetector page provides information about the status of Zelle’s server.
It is best to wait for the servers to be up before you use the service again.
3. Your Bank Servers are Down
If you are unable to use the Zelle servers but they are still working, it could be that the servers at your bank are down.
You can search the status of your bank online and follow websites such as Downdetector.
Wait for the servers to be restored if they are down. Servers of your bank may need to be repaired in a few hours or days.
4. Zelle/Bank App Outdated
You may also have an old version of Zelle that isn’t working with your bank app or Zelle.
You can also check for updates if you’re using the standalone Zelle application by visiting the App Store iOS devices or the Play Store Android devices.
It is possible that Zelle is not working through your bank’s app.
Bank and money transfer apps receive new updates frequently for security reasons. It is important to keep them up-to-date and use the latest version.
5. A VPN is being used
You will likely experience problems with your money transfer apps such as Zelle and banking if you use a VPN ( Virtual Private Network).
Zelle and other payment services and apps require you to know your location in order to send or transfer money. A VPN conceals your location, making you anonymous. Payment apps such as Zelle or your Bank’s app won’t recognize your location.
If you’re using a VPN to access the internet, disable it and then use Zelle. It should now work.
6. Your Zelle Account is Blocked
Another reason Zelle might not allow you to use Zelle could be that your Zelle account has been disabled because of fraud, suspicious activity or other security issues.
You will need to contact Zelle support in this instance.
