Installation Procedure

The installation process of Venetian blinds is very straightforward. You can simply follow these steps:

1. Inside Mount versus Outside Mount

Venetian blinds can be mounted in different ways. The first thing to decide is whether you want an inside mount or an outside mount. Your choice will affect the amount of light entering through the blinds.

An inside mount is when the blinds are mounted inside the window frame. This will provide you with a minimalist, simple and streamlined look. Ensure that your window is free from all obstacles like window winders or window sills for a neat look. If these obstacles get in the way, it will spoil the look. Inside mount Venetian blinds need some space on both sides of the blinds to install brackets. This causes a few streaks of light to pass through the sides.

With an outside mount, the blinds are mounted either on the window frame itself or outside the frame on the wall. It generally improves the block-out and privacy because the whole window is covered with Venetian blinds. Make a well-informed decision accordingly.

Irrespective of the kind of mount you choose, the installation instructions are the same.

2. Gather the Required Tools

Before you start installation, make sure that you have gathered all the required tools. Venetian blinds come with all the required mounting and hardware components. But you’ll also need a pencil, a drill with a drill bit, a head screwdriver, a measuring tape, a spirit level and a step ladder.

3. Measure the Window & Cut the Blinds

All Venetian blinds are designed to fit standard-sized windows. If you have a non-standard window size, most of the blinds can be specially cut to size after taking the measurement.

The method of measuring may differ based on where you want to mount the blinds i.e., outside or inside the window frame. Measure accordingly. For measurement purposes, you will need a pencil, paper and a measurement tape.

4. Align the Brackets

Mark a screw hole point on each bracket using a pencil on both sides of the window. Check to ensure if brackets are at the same depth or height on either side of the window frame. Make sure they are aligned evenly and are at a straight level using the spirit level. Venetian blinds, which are more than 120 centimetres wide, also come with one or two centre brackets. Install these centre brackets to support the weight of the blind if you are covering a very wide window.

This bracket will have more screw holes than you need. The additional holes are there to accommodate different installation requirements, depending on whether you want to fix the blinds on top or side.

5. Attach the Brackets

Use the drill fitted with an appropriately sized drill bit to drill a pilot hole over the pencil marking. Screw the bracket in place. All brackets require two screws, which will be provided. The screw size will vary depending on the style of the blinds you’re installing. If you want to drill securely, you can use an impact driver attachment for the process of drilling.

6. Install the Venetian Blinds

After opening the clips of brackets, hold the blinds from underneath the headrail and place the front lid of the headrail into the brackets along the length of the blinds. Now, push the blinds towards the window and into its place ensuring that you securely clip the blinds into the bracket.

Lower the blinds to add the child safety clip. This also keeps all lift cords neat and tidy. Screw the child safety clip into the window frame at no less than 160 centimetres from the ground.

Your Venetian blinds are good to be used now. The installation process is as simple as that! You can tilt the slats for ultimate light and privacy control.
