Lookah Seahorse Pro Nectar Collector Review

Lookah Seahorse Pro Nectar Collector

I had the pleasure of testing out a Lookah Seahorse Pro Nectar Collector recently and I want to share my thoughts with you, because it’s an amazing piece of equipment that I think every beekeeper should have! But first, what exactly does the name Lookah Seahorse Pro Nectar Collector mean?

What is the Lookah Seahorse Pro?

The Lookah Seahorse Pro is a nectar collector for your feeder. This means it sucks up all of that yummy honey water without any mess, and then you can easily drain it out into another container. This is super helpful because some of us keep bees in locations where we don’t want to go deep into nature just to check on our hives! I also like how this unit comes with an adapter so I can attach it to my 1-gallon bottles. It’s really easy to use too; I just put the funnel thingy over the top of my 1-gallon bottle and turn the knob on the bottom clockwise until I hear a pop sound which tells me that there’s enough pressure inside the bee jar. And when I turn it counterclockwise, liquid will flow from the bee jar into my 1-gallon bottle through the filter!

What do you get?

The Lookah Seahorse Pro comes in at 17 cm long, with a height of 9.5 cm and a diameter of 7.2 cm. The netting is 2 mm thick and is made from BPA-free plastics (tested for harmful chemicals) that are 100% food safe – so you can rest assured that there are no toxic chemicals getting into your nectar. A clever feature is the opening on the top of the collector which will allow you to pour out any excess nectar after filling it up to avoid spilling. You can also rinse it out if necessary with warm water or clean it in the dishwasher!

How does it work?

The Lookah Seahorse Pro has a built-in sieve that traps pollen grains when bees land on it. The Pollen is collected in a small nectar container at the bottom of the sieve, which is easily removed for cleaning and filling. To use, simply mount it to a tree or post up to 3 meters above ground level and watch as bees buzz around your garden! The sieve is made of stainless steel, while its base and collection jar are plastic. It can be mounted with a included screw and wing nut, or with nails (not included). It should be installed high enough so that pollinators can access it but low enough so that water doesn’t pool below it. In order to make sure that there’s always fresh nectar available, we recommend changing the jar every few days. Bees will only drink from freshly filled jars because they’re attracted to new smells. Lastly, we recommend doing a trial run before planting the sieve permanently because this device attracts honeybees, not native bees like bumblebees and sweat bees.

Design and build quality

The Lookah is made from a single piece of non-toxic, BPA-free plastic. This material choice gives it a high level of durability and means it won’t be broken or damaged easily. The collector has a round design that makes it easy to place on your desk or any flat surface, like a table, nightstand, or shelf. It’s so lightweight you can even hang it from your window or put in on your dashboard for easy access when you go out and about. It’s very easy to assemble and disassemble because the product comes with an included screwdriver. Aesthetically, the nectar collector looks nice enough with its clean white finish, but there are many other designs available if you’re looking for something a little more flashy!

Performance in real world use

I’ve used my Lookah in several different scenarios, including when I was hiking through moderately thick brush and on a dry trail, both of which provided me with plenty of opportunities to try out its nectar-collecting capabilities. The nectar collector is, by far, my favorite part of the Lookah. For one thing, it means that you can harvest nectar while wearing gloves—no more having to remove your gloves each time you want to place a flower into your bag.

How easy is it to clean?

Not very. If you’re wondering how difficult it is to clean, imagine a goldfish bowl full of… weed, and then think about cleaning that with one Q-tip. Not very easy! That being said, there are certain solutions you can use to make it a bit easier. I recommend soaking your nectar collector in warm water with some dish soap and thoroughly rinsing off all parts before use.

Value vs other drippers on the market

The Lookah is one of a number of new cup style drippers that use a silicone ring to create an airtight seal and isolate your wick from direct contact with your cup. They hold less water than many similar designs on the market, which some consider an advantage, but I do not.

Overall thoughts & rating

The Lookah Seahorse is definitely a unique and effective way to suck up nectar in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Since it’s hard to tell how much nectar you have on your head, it’s good to know that you have an accurate count in front of you. The collector is just as fun as a real-life seahorse collector would be; your character even sounds like they’re at an aquarium when they’re near it!

Happy Reading!!!!
